Installation, maintenance, and repair occupations had employment of 5.7 million in May 2019, representing 3.9 percent of total national employment, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.

The largest installation, maintenance, and repair occupation was general maintenance and repair workers (1.4 million) and the highest paying installation, maintenance, and repair occupation was powerhouse, substation, and relay electrical and electronics repairers ($81,280).

The annual mean wage across all installation, maintenance, and repair occupations was $50,130, compared with the U.S. average wage of $53,490.
