EMV-enabled cards have been in use worldwide for a number of years, especially in Europe. So if you travel abroad, your new cards will seamlessly work in more places. The new cards also will have a conventional magnetic stripe—which means you’ll find it’s still business as usual at merchants who aren’t yet EMV-equipped.
